2019 ANNUAL NW TRAPPERS CONVENTION – THUNDER BAY
NWOPA together with the Thunder Bay Geology & Lapidary Club participated in the NW Trappers Convention held on March 1 & 2 in the Coliseum Building at the Canadian Lakehead Exhibition in Thunder Bay. The convention promotes education, awareness and management practices of the fur industry. It was a fun filled event attended by trappers, hunters, fishermen, and other outdoor enthusiasts from the local area as well as northwestern Ontario. The convention consists of a variety of displays including independent & commercial vendors, demonstrations, raffles, and a fur fashion show by Katie Ball of Silver Cedar Studio. Many keen rock hounds visited our booth with inquiries about local mining while sharing their personal prospecting & exploration experiences. The rock & mineral samples displayed at our booth by NWOPA & the Lapidary Society continuously draw interest & questions from convention attendees. NWOPA was once again proud to share a booth with the Thunder Bay Geology & Lapidary Club at this year’s event and look forward to future participation together at next year’s NW Trappers Convention.
